Our Founder: Matt

Cardiff Development Finance is led by Matt, a development finance specialist with over 20 years of experience in property finance and corporate banking. With a background in HBOS corporate banking, Matt has personally arranged over £300 million in development funding across the UK, with a particular depth of expertise in the South Wales market.

Matt's career began in corporate banking at HBOS, where he gained an institutional understanding of credit risk, deal structuring, and property valuation that continues to inform his approach to development finance today. This background gives Matt — and by extension, his clients — a significant edge when presenting proposals to lenders, because he understands exactly what a credit committee needs to see.

After 15 years in banking and specialist lending, Matt founded Construction Capital to bring institutional-grade finance expertise directly to property developers. The Cardiff Development Finance service was created to serve the unique needs of the Welsh development market, where the Development Bank of Wales, Welsh planning policies, and regional lender dynamics require specialist local knowledge.
